They refuse to cry as they pull the chariot through the darkness, leaving their burning castle behind them. As they traverse through the darkness, the protagonist's heart becomes consumed with darkness, as they "Hurry up! Don't want the fate, no restrictions!"ĭespite the darkness and uncertainty of the journey, the protagonist is resilient and determined, firm in their resolve as they move toward their goal. The opening lyrics, "Fukai kiri ni tsutsumareta rinjuu no mukou e" ("Beyond the deep mist, to the other side of the groves"), set the stage for a journey into the unknown, where the protagonist must cross a bridge made of bones to reach their destination, riding a black carriage. The lyrics of Versailles's song Suzerain depict a sense of darkness and despair as the protagonist navigates a path through a foggy forest thick with mysticism and haunting imagery.
